Upcoming workshops for Fall 2017:

Sept 5 2017: Understanding Relationship Patterns

In this one hour workshop, we go over common relationship patterns and how they connect with the three main attachment styles (secure, anxious, and avoidant). You’ll find out why attachment is so important and how it may be running your relationship (or potential relationships) without your even knowing it. You’ll get to do a quiz about your own attachment style and a group exercise where you talk with other attendees who have the same style. It promises to be insightful and fun!

Sept 12 2017: Healthy Relationship Foundations

In this one hour workshop, “Healthy Relationship Foundations”, we go into more detail about consent, safety, accountability, equality, and trust. What do these things look like in healthy relationships? We’ll be talking through these ideas as a group and having an open discussion about what being in a healthy relationship really means. As always, we’ll have time for questions and support.

Sept 19 2017: Healthy Sex (with guest facilitator Marc Colbourne)

In this 90 minute workshop, guest facilitator Marc Colbourne will go over all things related to healthy sex, from a queer perspective. As always, we’ll have time for questions and support.

Sept 26 2017: Abusive and Unhealthy Relationships

In this one hour workshop, we go over the ways abuse can show up in relationships, the pattern that develops over time, and how power and control are at the root. We go over signs that a relationship may be unhealthy, and what to do if you find yourself (or someone you love) in one. We end on some ideas about creating safety and taking care of ourselves.

Oct 3 2017: Open Forum on Relationships

In this 90 minute open forum on healthy relationships, our Registered Psychologist Nicole Perry will be facilitating a discussion on all things relationship related, and attempting to answer your questions live! Send questions in advance and arrive with curiousity. From boundaries to relationship styles to communication and more, who knows what we’ll cover! As always, there will be lots of time for group discussion and support.

 

These upcoming workshops in our 5 Week Relationship Series are part of a greater project, online and in person. Folks can attend as many workshops as they choose. As a drop-in group, registration occurs on the first visit, so there’s no need to do so in advance. Participants can also join this group by following our blog, which will cover related topics. We’ll be posting some discussion questions directly from the workshops as well as some new material.

Feb 1 2017: Resourcing & Grounding

In this one hour workshop, we’ll be offering several tools to help with anxiety, past trauma, or just plain old getting centered in yourself. There will be space for you to follow along and try these tools out within the session to find out which work best for you. As it is a group atmosphere and we aren’t able to offer the same level of support as we would in an individual session, this workshop is best for those not in an acute stage of trauma but hoping to gain more resources in their healing journey. We’ll also have time for questions and group discussion about coping strategies.

Feb 8 2017: Boundaries & Assertiveness

In this one hour workshop, we will dig into what your boundary style is, how it shows up in different settings, and where it came from. We’ll offer an exercise to help you get in touch with what’s right for you, and choose one area where you might like to set a boundary.

Feb 15 2017: Stress Management & Self Care

In this one hour workshop, we’ll help you start learning to put yourself as a priority. We will be doing some group brainstorming about what gets in the way of taking care of yourself, and an experiential exercise to help you get in touch with your needs.

Feb 22 2017: Self Compassion

In this one hour workshop, start learning to turn toward yourself with kindness instead of judgment. We will be using group discussion, an experiential exercise, and a mindfulness meditation to help us explore this topic.

March 1, 2017: Ask a Psychologist!

In this one hour workshop, our Registered Psychologist Nicole Perry will be answering your relationship-related questions live! Send them in advance and arrive with curiosity. From stress management to putting yourself as a priority to healing old wounds, who knows what we’ll cover! As always, we’ll also have time for group discussion and support.

In this one hour workshop, we go over the benefits of healthy boundaries while offering support to the people we love, the differences between merging and joining, the signs we’re getting burnt out, and what to do when that happens.
